Spa Eagles vs Tewkesbury Town Colts
It was Eagles’ highly anticipated first match at their new home ground on Saturday which saw the home team match up against a tough Tewkesbury side. A lot of work went into getting the pitch match ready throughout the week.
Spa had played Tewkesbury in a pre season friendly a couple of weeks beforehand so each side had a good idea of what they were facing into.
10 mins into the first half, after having most of the possession, Spa found themselves a goal down. But it only took another 5 mins to grab a leveller. Charlie spotting that the away keeper was off his line, struck a lofted 25yrd effort which hit the back of the net.
Minutes after, a counter attack from Spa resulted in a foul on Leilan inside the penalty box, which was subsequently converted by Leilan to make it 2-1 to the home side.

Changes were made to Spa’s attacking lineup at half time with the introduction of Jay and Alfie. Within minutes Alfie had an opportunity on the half volley 25yrds out and thundered home another for the Eagles. 3-1.
Goals came think and fast throughout the rest of the second half, with some great movement by the home side, but were caught out by the long ball play from Tewkesbury goalkeeper, feeding their attacking options.
Tewkesbury finally pulled another back to make it 3-2 on 60 mins. This second seemed to give them a boost and they were hungry to find themselves an equaliser.
Eagles managed to find their momentum again and on the 65th minute, Kaleb hit a left footed strike from outside of the box to extend Eagles’ lead to 4-2.
As if the game wasn’t exciting enough, the away side bagged another two goals within 5 mins to bring the scoreline to 4-4.
Whilst I’m sure both sides expected and would have taken a point, Leilan was again brought down in the penalty area and the referee pointed to the spot. Kaleb stepped up for the second time in a week to convert the penalty into three points.
